The Mereland Chronicles

One Year of The Mereland Chronicles

Tomorrow, 16 October 2026, marks exactly one year since The Mereland Chronicles: The Crier was officially published.

After six years of research, writing, editing and preparation, my debut novel finally made its way into the world.

It’s been quite a journey since then. From seeing the book on the shelves of bookshops to attending book fairs, being featured in newspapers, speaking about the story on BBC Radio Cumbria, and hearing from readers who’ve discovered the mystery for themselves.

One of the most rewarding parts has been reading people’s reactions, particularly those who say the story kept them guessing or that the ending stayed with them long after they’d finished reading.

And now, a year on, the story continues.

A Mystery Set in the Heart of Cumbria

For those who haven’t yet discovered The Mereland Chronicles: The Crier, the novel is an atmospheric mystery set against the backdrop of early 16th-century Cumbria and the Lake District.

When a mysterious woman is discovered on the sands of Morecambe Bay, a monk named Henry offers her shelter and compassion while she recovers. But as he grows closer to her, questions begin to emerge about who she really is, what she remembers, and whether her arrival is quite as accidental as it first appeared.

It’s a slow-building psychological mystery exploring desire, manipulation, betrayal and the consequences of placing your trust in someone who may not be everything they seem.

Celebrate with a Special Anniversary Kindle Offer

What Comes Next?

Although this anniversary marks a year since the first book’s publication, The Mereland Chronicles is far from finished.

The next instalment will continue the story, taking readers beyond the world they’ve already discovered, with new characters, new mysteries and some very different settings.

There are still questions to answer. And perhaps some things readers thought they understood aren’t quite as straightforward as they first appeared.

For now, though, thank you to everyone who’s bought the book, left a review, visited me at a book fair or simply helped spread the word.

Here’s to the first year of The Mereland Chronicles, and to the mysteries still to come.

The anniversary Kindle offer runs from 16–23 October 2026. Available through Amazon Kindle in participating marketplaces.
