So, next Saturday (5th September 2026) I’m bringing The Mereland Chronicles to what could arguably be called its home neighbourhood, Furness Abbey.

The beginning of the novel centres around the abbey, with one of the main characters being a member of its former monastery.

And whatever happens in the book series going forward (yes, book two is underway – no spoilers here), the time and place (Barrow, Dalton, southern and northern Furness, and the spaces between) will always be the flashpoint for the events to come.
If you’ve read The Mereland Chronicles: The Crier, you’ll already have a sense of what I mean.
So, if you’re local or visiting, it would be great to see you. The Abbey Fair is a great family day out, with plenty going on throughout the day. I’ll also have copies of The Crier available to buy, and I’ll be happy to sign copies for you.
Saturday 5th September, 10am–5pm, Furness Abbey.
Come and say hello.
