Rescued from the brink of death by a kind-hearted monk from Furness Abbey, she is nursed back to health, but secrets shroud her arrival. As devotion turns to deception and truth becomes tangled with lies, the monk is drawn into a world he never could have imagined.
From the grandeur of Furness Abbey in its heyday to the wild beauty of Windermere’s shores, this novel weaves history with fantasy, reimagining real-world locations in a way that will both enthral and surprise.

Why the Lake District?
Having lived in the Lake District my entire life, it has always been a boundless source of inspiration. In fact, this novel, and the series it will spawn, was conceived years ago as I explored the wilds of the Lakes as a teenager. Its raw beauty, timeless charm, and air of mystery make it the perfect setting for a tale that blends history with fantasy.
Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours wandering through its vast wilderness, simply imagining and conjuring new stories and letting the landscape shape them.
Furness Abbey, in particular, captured my imagination. Its crumbling sandstone walls whisper secrets of the past, making it the perfect setting for a tale woven with mystery, passion, and deception.
But in The Mereland Chronicles: The Crier, the Lake District and the Furness Peninsula aren’t just backdrops, they are characters in their own right, shaping the story through their moods, seasons, and ancient rhythms.
