I’m excited to share a major update with you all! After months years of dedication and countless revisions, I’ve finally completed the final round of self-editing on my historical fantasy novel, set in the breathtaking landscapes of the English Lake District. I’ve now handed the manuscript over to my trusted beta readers, marking a crucial step forward in the journey toward publication.
The novel immerses readers in the medieval era of the Lake District, a time when the region looked very different from today. The Furness area was even greener, with dense forests and abundant woodlands stretching across the land. These forests were not just beautiful – they were mysterious, teeming with secrets, and full of life. I’ve taken great care to weave this rich natural landscape into the heart of the story.
The journey will transport readers to some of the Lake District’s most iconic and atmospheric locations. You’ll explore the ancient ruins of Furness Abbey as it stood in its medieval glory, visit the serene waters of Windermere, wander through the medieval town of Dalton, and face the perilous, shifting sands of Morecambe Bay – where many have met their fate. These places, so familiar to many of us, come alive in a time long past, when history and legend intertwined across the shadowy forests and sprawling landscapes of Furness.
The initial feedback from my beta readers has been encouraging. So far, they’ve highlighted minor tweaks – nothing too major yet (fingers crossed)! Knowing that the story is resonating well is a huge relief, and I’m excited to move forward with the final refinements to bring this historical fantasy novel to life.
For those who enjoy historical fiction, fantasy novels, and the beauty of the Lake District National Park, this book will take you on a compelling journey through a world inspired by the region’s history and myth. The blend of medieval life, mythic elements, and the untamed natural beauty of Cumbria has been an incredible experience to write, and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
